Dermaplaning Ez CO2 Facial
Spa-licious are skilled in dermaplaning, a highly effective exfoliating facial treatment which restores your skin’s glow and triggers natural collagen production. Although dermaplaning is often talked about as a new treatment, it has been practiced by dermatologists for decades to prepare the skin for chemical peels. Its effectiveness at delivering a powerful radiance-boost for young and mature skins, mean that dermaplaning has become a sought-after treatment.
Dermaplaning is a safe, high-impact skin exfoliation process that works in a similar way to microdermabrasion. Our skilled aestheticians use a surgical scalpel to gently shave away dead surface skin. As well as removing layers of old skin cells, it removes the fine ‘peach fuzz’ (vellus) hairs on the face. These harbour grime and oils, contributing to the skin’s dull appearance. The combination of deep manual exfoliation and hair removal leaves skin silky smooth and brighter, plus make-up glides on easily – making it the perfect facial treatment before a big night out. The exfoliating action also stimulates fresh collagen and elastin production, helping reduce signs of aging.
Whether you want to kick-start a regular effective facial regime or book as one-off to prepare for flawless make up application, dermaplaning is the ideal treatment. The deep exfoliating action leaves skin looking visibly smoother and fuzz free. As cells regenerate after treatment – creating new healthy collagen and elastin – it also helps reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Dermaplaning is also effective if you have dry or rough skin, scarring or uneven pigmentation, as it polishes away the build-up of dead and damaged skin cells, revealing fresh, radiant skin underneath. Skin creams can also penetrate better, improving their performance.
What to expect
You will be invited to a full consultation at our skin clinic in Gerrards Cross. Here, we will talk about your reason for wanting dermaplaning, what the treatment involves and home care advice. If you are a suitable candidate for treatment (please see our FAQs below) then treatment can start.
Your skin will be thoroughly cleansed, and a pre-exfoliation gel applied. This is followed by a relaxing sheet mask which stays in place for 10 minutes. During the dermaplaning treatment, our aesthetician uses a sterile surgical blade to gently scrape the skin surface. To finish, a collagen mask is applied, along with a soothing skin serum.
Treatment name FAQs
Q: How often can I have Dermaplaning treatments?
To get the best results, we recommend dermaplaning once a month.
Q: Am I suitable for Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is extremely safe and suitable for most people, from teenagers upwards. The minimum age for treatment is 16 (with parental consent). It is especially recommended if you have dry skin, rough skin or mature skin. It is also an effective treatment for uneven pigmentation and sun damage.
Dermaplaning isn’t suitable if you have severe acne or excessively oily skin as in some cases it can make the skin oilier. If you have either of these skin types, a chemical peel is a more suitable option. It is also not suitable if you are taking certain medications, such as blood thinning medication, or undergoing treatment, such as chemotherapy. Please contact us if you would like further information.
Q: What will I look like after Dermaplaning? Will I need any downtime?
Dermaplaning is a superficial treatment requiring little or no downtime. Your skin may appear rosier than usual, but this should quickly fade.
Full home care advice will be given at your appointment, but it is best to avoid sunbathing or use exfoliating scrubs for one week afterwards.
Q: I am pregnant, am I suitable for Dermaplaning?
Yes, absolutely! As dermaplaning is a manual process not a chemical peel, pregnant and breast-feeding women can have dermaplaning treatments
Q: Will hair on my face grow back thicker after Dermaplaning?
No, hair thickness changes usually occur due to hormonal changes. Dermaplaning simply removes hair on the skin surface.
Q: I am having other aesthetic skin treatments; can I combine them with Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning works well with lots of other skin treatments, including mesotherapy and LED facials. It can also be carried out if you have chemical peels, although not at the same session. Always leave at least a week between dermaplaning and a chemical peel.
